TAMARAMA SUBURB SPOTLIGHT
Originally known as Dixon Bay, Tamarama is surrounded by high cliffs. Tamarama is commonly known as Glamarama for the beautiful people that frequent the beach.
Tamarama was the site of Sydney’s first amusement park (opening in 1887) named the Bondi Aquarium, which had a roller coaster that looped out over the water. The beach itself is only 80 metres long and is in the middle of the famous Bondi to Bronte ocean walk. It is host to the Sculpture by the Sea annual outdoor artistic event.
The suburb is mostly residential and the beach and adjacent parklands are great for children and families with its wide grassy areas, BBQ’s and playgrounds along with a shady rest area and tables.
