RUSHCUTTERS BAY SUBURB SPOTLIGHT

Sitting on iconic Sydney Harbour and having earned itself a name for its postcard water views and home to Sydney's yachting elite.

Internationally recognised as the Sailing Shore Base in the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympic Games and a prominent park for many to catch a glimpse of the annual New Year's Eve fireworks, followed by the start of the famous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

Bustling with cafes and restaurants along with many of Sydney's high-end developments and car dealerships Rushcutters Bay has evolved into one of Eastern suburbs premier addresses.

Originally called Blackburn Cove, the area saw much activity by the early settlers and the name was established as the 'Rush Cutting Bay' in the 1800s. This was due to the swampy land being covered in tall rushes used for thatching houses.
