In 2018, Surry Hills' acclaimed Belvoir Theatre launched 25A — a new program dedicated to supporting independent theatre and emerging artists. The seven-part season saw shows created and marketed by independent theatremakers on a strict budget of $1500. In return, Belvoir offered up the theatre for free and creators received 100 percent of the box office earnings. After a successful inaugural season, Belvoir has just announced the 2019 program, which will once again take over the Downstairs Theatre.
